In 2017 I quit my tech job due to major burn out then took a full time full stack web developer bootcamp to pivot to become a software engineer. In 2021 I took a part time game development course via Code Coven to learn the foundations of Epics Unreal Engine and really enjoyed learning game making and design. Today Im a technical director for a media brand in the health and wellness space and live with my partner and two husky lab twin dogs in Michigan. In my spare time I like to practice art, coding, writing, mixing music, live streaming and creating an online community of creatives, gamers, developers, and various professionals to create an inclusive, safe space for folks of all ages and backgrounds. Now I'm on a journey to get back to my healthiest self and work on fun projects. I found an awesome link to a video describing the personal web. Give it a watch if you're interested in setting up your own corner of the web that you own, rather than use social media. Thank you omg.lol discord!

I might finally be able to make a digital garden with a self hosted version of [Quartz](https://quartz.jzhao.xyz/). Since the goal of this site was originally to be "un-posse" and just kind of exist on the internet, and I wanted it to be a collection of cool ideas, notes, inspiration, etc, I might switch it from bear blog to self hosted. Let's see how I feel this week.
For now, I've switched back to [Obsidian](https://obsidian.md/) for my offline digital notebook. I'm really sick of seeing Notion enable more features I don't need and marketing their AI features. I am trying out Obsidian Sync since I need to be able to access my notes on my phone, Mac, PC and Linux (when I'm tinkering), but really like that Obsidian keeps markdown files locally. I might also try the [Obsidian-webpage-export](https://github.com/KosmosisDire/obsidian-webpage-export/) plugin to see how I like using that for a site.

What is the IndieWeb?
As per [indieweb.org](https://indieweb.org/)
> The IndieWeb is a people-focused alternative to the “corporate web”.
We are a community of independent and personal websites based on the principles of: owning your domain and using it as your primary online identity, publishing on your own site first (optionally elsewhere), and owning your content.
On my other personal website, I do POSSE, since I want to get more exposure to my website where I talk about gaming, art, live streaming, and connect with a different pseudonym.
On this website, I mentioned in an [earlier post](/un-posse-an-experiment/), that I want to publish here and not really syndicate elsewhere as an experiment on keeping a presence on a blog without social media. It's a bit simpler and I can just focus on writing articles about the indie web, small web, design, creativity, health, and hopefully create a portfolio where I keep more of a professional presence.
Regarding the IndieWeb, it's bringing yourself back to the early days of the internet. We only had websites then; no social media. We had a personal domain, forums, IRC, chat rooms, and other simpler ways to be online when we chose to be, and not always available. I miss those days often. But we need to remember, we can still do that if we set boundaries. There are tons of folks that I've found on forums, discovery feeds, and via my own RSS reader linked from other sites, where people have decided to quit social media and take back their attention to writing, and their content.
Are you ready to join the IndieWeb? I'd love to [hear from you](/contact/)!
