Last weekend I had the excellent of experience of seeing a showing of the 2025 IMAX Remaster. The remastered footage looked great, and the remastered audio was mind-blowing. The original recording was not of particularly great quality, but the mastering work done by Steven Wilson was truly impressive, making the recording sound as if it were originally meant to be an album release, which sounded especially good on the movie theater's sound system. + +An aspect of the film I find particularly interesting is that it captures the band right around the release of their sixth album *Meddle*, a time when they had started to find themselves musically, but notably before they we launched into unfathomable success with *The Dark Side of the Moon*. The film includes some clips of the band recording *Dark Side*, as well as interviews with each of the band members, completely unaware that they were about to drop one of the greatest albums of all time. I wonder what it was like to go from a relatively obscure band doing weird experimental rock to being one of the greats, seemingly overnight.
